Full-time Head of Maintenance

at Alpine Elements in Aigue Blanche (France)

Reporting to:
Operations Manager

Summary of position:
To manage / oversea all aspects of in resort maintenance. Pro actively deal with any issues as and when they arise, manage a team of maintenance personnel and be an active / hands on member of the team

Duties and Responsibilities

Day to day tasks will include, but are not limited to;

  • Planning and execution of all resort maintenance projects prior to the start of the summer and winter season.
  • Hands on in the completion of any / all maintenance tasks
  • Liaise closely with the Operations Manager, Head of Overseas and Managing Director on development projects.
  • Manage all areas of the maintenance costing and budgeting as well as pro-actively looking at areas where you can reduce costs without loosing the quality
  • To compile a full inventory of all company maintenance equipment and materials, to distribute this equipment accordingly and be responsible for its return and the end of job or the season.
  • Purchasing of new equipment and materials using company accounts / cash in conjunction with the Operations Manager and working to the set budgets
  • Assist in the recruitment and placement of seasonal maintenance staff.
  • Produce and deliver full induction / on the job training to all maintenance personnel joining the company
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of all official paperwork regarding working hours and rotas
  • Ensuring the accurate and timely completion of all resort maintenance accounts

Personal attributes:

  • Remain calm under pressure and be able to work to deadlines / targets
  • Flexible, Reliable and willing to adapt around the needs of the business
  • Be able to logically prioritise a variety of tasks and switch between them efficiently.

Skills / Requirements:

  • Experienced trades person (minimum of 3 years)
  • Experience in project management
  • Spoken French (Good conversational level)
  • Full current and clean driving license
  • Have experience in driving left hand vehicles and be comfortable driving bad weather / heavy snow situations

This position will involve a lot of driving time in order to cover / oversee up to 12 resorts split over two countries. Your main base of operations is likely to change from season to season and will be dependent on the location and volume of the works taking place within our properties.

This is a permanent all year round position.

One of the best jobs while being in the french alps is to be a Virtual assistant this gives you the freedom and the felxibility to work around your skiing. Also as chalet staff and resort wages are inclusive of accommodation and sometime food you will need to pay for your own accommodation which can be very expensive
