Beach Supervisor
at Ocean Elements in Vassilliki (Greece)
Reporting to:
Activities Manager
Summary of position:
To ensure that all beach activities are delivered in accordance with governing body guidelines, and as such ensure that all external inspections are a success. In addition, the beach supervisor plays a fundamental role in creating a welcoming and encouraging environment in which all guests feel at ease participating in activities.
Duties and Responsibilities:(this list is not exhaustive)
*Preparing notes and planning ahead for daily staff meeting to discuss lesson plans and duties for the day
- Delegating maintenance, cleaning and any other beach duties to instructors throughout the day
- Motivating all beach staff to deliver high standards and enjoy their work
- Giving staff incentives and time off in accordance with operational needs eg windsurf rotation
- Responsible for the opening and set up of all beach equipment in time for lessons
- Responsible for ensuring all equipment is securely locked and stored when the beach is closed
- Ensure all necessary maintenance checks and preventative maintenance tasks are carried out weekly
- Ensure maintenance records are kept and are accurate
- Ensure all COSSH information is collated and stored on site
- Complete the weekly H&S audit
- Update the Ocean Elements Facebook page weekly
- Obtain a daily/weekly weather forecast and relay this information to staff and guests
- Taking bookings for activities and upselling ‘extras’ in resort
- Responsible for instructor inductions
- Responsible for implementing and completing on going training programs for all staff
- Responsible for ensuring that Apprentice Instructor’s are trained in accordance with governing body syllabus
- Creating a welcoming and encouraging environment for guests to learn new skills
- Carrying out first aid and completing accident forms as necessary
- Be responsible for providing exceptional safety cover for all water users
- Overseeing, guiding and developing the skills of staff teaching groups of adults new skills in line with the governing body syllabus
- Overseeing, guiding and developing the skills of staff teaching groups of children new skills in line with the governing body syllabus
- Teaching a variety of sessions when required
- Write Risk Assessments for all beach related activities and areas of operation
- Socialising with guests in the evenings, including handing out awards on their last night
- Carrying out monthly stock takes
Experience / Qualifications required:
2/3 season experience working on an RYA beach, preferably with BCU knowledge also. RYA Senior Instructor and multi-disciplined watersports instructor.
